It has only been a couple of days since Half-Life: Alyx released, but fans are already finding incredibly creative ways to use Valve’s VR technology. Yesterday, for example, a teacher taught his geometry class from within Half-Life: Alyx since schools have been shut down. The 17 minute video can be watched on YouTube and already has over 200,000 views.

Fans have been waiting for a continuation of the Half-Life series for many years. Instead of getting Half-Life 3 like everyone wanted, Valve has instead decided to release Half-Life: Alyx. This is not to say that Alyx isn’t exciting, as fans have already begun enjoying the impressive VR title. To even play the ambitious game players will have ensure that they have top-of-the-line PC specs. This is mostly because Half-Life: Alyx is really pushing the limits on what VR is capable of and shows off gameplay that has never been seen before in a VR title.

According to PC Gamer, Charles Coomber of San Diego had to find a new way to teach his students while schools have been shut down. Rather than just using an app like Zoom or Skype, Coomber decided to instead record himself teaching the lesson from within the world of Half-Life: Alyx. Coomber managed to track down markers, an eraser, and a surface to write on. From there, the teacher was able to write on the “board” and teach geometry to his 7th grade students.

The video quickly garnered thousands of views and people were amazed at Coomber’s use of Valve’s Half-Life Alyx VR technology. Many viewers were probably slightly disappointed that Coomber didn’t do anything but teach throughout the video, however, viewers who managed to sit through the entire lesson were rewarded with a quick tour through Alyx’s apartment, as Coomber walked around to show off a few of the game’s basic features.

It is amazing how many people have found creative ways to experiment with Half-Life: Alyx already, so soon after the game’s release. As time goes on it will be interesting to see just what all people have discovered during their time with the game. With more than 13 years since the last Half-Life release, many were concerned that Alyx wouldn’t be able to live up to the hype surrounding it. After the last two days, though, it seems like Half-Life: Alyx is going to be a massive success, at least for those lucky people who already have (or are planning on getting) a VR system.
